Research, outreach and innovation are key themes in my education and work experience. During my graduate education in the Master's of Library and Information Science program at the University of Washington, I assisted with faculty research, engaged in collaborative group projects, and volunteered with Seattle organizations.
These opportunities gave me a better understanding of the range of opportunities I can explore with a degree in Library and Information Science. As an undergraduate at California State University, Sacramento, I was involved with outreach initiatives while working with campus organizations to increase student retention and increase student engagement.
My undergraduate degree in Sociology has given me a foundation to apply sociological concepts to my own understanding and interest in how people develop and create meaning of the world around them. I value public library spaces as inclusive environments that promote literacy and civic engagement.
I have a deep passion for research and hope to work with agencies, including non-profit and government/state entities to improve policies to address inequities surrounding access to information through the use of technology.
